Role Description The Production Chemist is a full-time, on-site role based in Rockford, IL, responsible for manufacturing high-purity inorganic compounds and related materials according to established procedures and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include preparing chemical batches, operating laboratory and production equipment, monitoring reactions, and documenting process parameters. The role involves performing routine in-process testing, collaborating with quality control teams to ensure product specifications, and maintaining compliance with internal and external standards. The Production Chemist will also assist with process optimization, support R&D scale-up activities, manage inventory of raw materials and reagents, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in safety and efficiency. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong laboratory skills, including safe handling of chemicals, use of standard lab equipment, and adherence to laboratory protocols. Candidates should possess analytical skills for interpreting experimental data, performing basic calculations, and assisting with troubleshooting production processes. Candidates should possess the ability to follow regulated production and documentation procedures. Candidates should possess exposure to process development, scale-up activities, and technical problem solving. Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in chemical production. Additional beneficial skills include attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, effective communication, and the capability to work safely in a production environment.
