Overall Job Summary This position involves interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while delivering legendary customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%) As a Team Member, you should be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. You will be expected to: Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. Support selling initiatives by: Thanking customers Engaging with customers and pets Advising on products or services Making interactions memorable Perform a variety of duties during 95% of your workday, including: Operating cash registers and following cash handling procedures Merchandise recovery and assembly Participating in freight and merchandising resets Performing janitorial duties and price changes Assisting customers with loading and caring for live animals Completing all related documentation Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Experience: No prior experience required; retail or pet/live animal knowledge is preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge Strong communication and problem-solving skills Basic computer skills Interpersonal skills and ethical issue resolution Working Conditions Indoor environment with moderate noise Hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt; adequate lighting and temperature Shifts generally range from 4 to over 8 hours Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines Physical Requirements Non-sedentary role requiring mobility throughout the store and outdoors Ability to lift or reach overhead, stand, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders Ability to operate equipment and process transactions accurately Ability to move merchandise and live animals weighing up to 50 pounds Disclaimer This overview is not exhaustive; duties may be assigned by supervisors.
