The RBT implements individualized behavioral and educational strategies designed to increase student independence, communication, social skills, emotional regulation, classroom engagement, and successful participation in the school environment. The RBT works collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, administrators, families, and other members of the student's educational team. The RBT may support students across classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, school activities, transportation areas, and community-based instructional settings as appropriate. The RBT maintains a professional, respectful, and student-centered approach while supporting students with a variety of educational, behavioral, developmental, social-emotional, and functional needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and/or small-group behavioral and instructional support to students. Implement individualized behavioral and educational strategies identified within student support plans, IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and classroom programming. Support students in developing skills related to: Communication Social interaction Self-regulation Emotional regulation Classroom participation Functional independence Academic engagement Daily living skills Appropriate replacement behaviors Collect accurate and objective data related to student behavior, skill acquisition, academic engagement, and progress. Implement evidence-based behavioral strategies, including prompting, reinforcement, modeling, redirection, visual supports, and other approved interventions. Assist students in generalizing skills across different environments, activities, staff members, and social situations. Promote student independence and gradually reduce unnecessary adult prompting when appropriate. Support students during transitions between classrooms, activities, and school environments. Provide support during less-structured settings such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, assemblies, field trips, and school-wide activities. Respond appropriately to challenging or unsafe behaviors according to established school procedures and student-specific support plans. Follow district-approved procedures for behavioral support, crisis prevention, safety, and emergency situations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student services, observations, data, and progress. Communicate relevant student observations, concerns, and progress to appropriate members of the educational team. Participate in team meetings, staff trainings, professional development, and school activities as assigned. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and families. Protect the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and applicable state and federal regulations. Support classroom routines and instructional activities as appropriate. Assist with implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized supports identified by the educational team. Encourage student participation in the least restrictive and most inclusive environment appropriate to the student's needs. Perform other duties consistent with the position and assigned by the school administrator. Bachelor’s degree. Successful completion of required background checks and employment screenings. Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents with diverse learning, behavioral, developmental, and communication needs. Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound professional judgment. Ability to follow individualized student plans and implement behavioral and instructional strategies consistently. Strong communication, organization, patience, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and ethical practices. Ability to implement individualized behavioral and instructional strategies. Ability to collect accurate and objective data. Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
