Role Overview

Our organization is seeking a Data Scientist Specialist to join a team focused on developing and enhancing mortgage prepayment, default, and severity models for portfolio management. This role involves conducting quantitative analysis to support the valuation and hedging of mortgage products. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of mortgage valuation models and perform portfolio analysis to support trading and hedging activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance mortgage prepayment, default, and severity models for portfolio management.
• Focus on model testing and documentation.
• Apply statistical modeling and big data analytics tools to forecast mortgage borrower behavior.
• Develop and enhance valuation processes and risk metrics for the retained portfolio.
• Conduct sensitivity analysis and impact assessment for model updates.
• Prepare model documentation and conduct model validation tests.
• Provide analytics support for trading and hedging activities.

Required Qualifications

Education: A Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field is required. A Doctorate degree is preferred. We are open to recent Ph.D. graduates with relevant research experience.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in modeling, model testing, or model development is required. Candidates with 10+ years of modeling experience will also be considered.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python for modeling and analytical work is required. Experience with R or SAS is also valued. Candidates should have experience with large datasets and relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience applying predictive modeling techniques to large datasets.
• Post-graduate work experience in mortgage valuation and statistical modeling.
• Strong knowledge of survival analysis and mortgage valuation.
• Knowledge of big data analytics, such as Apache Spark and AWS cloud computing.

Compensation and Benefits: The pay rate for this position is between $70.00 and $95.00 per hour. Please note that the final rate may be contingent on experience and other factors.
