VDC (BIM) Specialist - Piping & Fabrication

Location: 100% Remote

Type: Contract-to-Hire

We're looking for a VDC/BIM Specialist who is passionate about piping, fabrication, and building models that become real-world installations. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical or piping history who enjoys coordination, problem-solving, and creating high-quality fabrication models.

Responsibilities

• Develop LOD 400 mechanical and piping models.
• Create shop, spool, hanger, and sleeve drawings.
• Coordinate with other trades and resolve clashes using Navisworks.
• Support fabrication and field teams with accurate, buildable models.
• Participate in coordination meetings and assist with RFIs.
• Mentor junior VDC/detailing team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical, piping, or plumbing detailing.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Fabrication CADmep.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
• Previous work with a mechanical contractor, piping contractor, or fabrication shop.
• Strong understanding of fabrication workflows, spools, hangers, sleeves, and coordination.

Ideal Candidate

Someone who started in the field or fabrication environment and transitioned into detailing, BIM, or VDC. You understand not just how to model systems, but how they're fabricated and installed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Apex, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
