Registered Nurse ICU Neuro Cardiovascular

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (ICU) provides expert nursing care within a high-acuity neuro and cardiovascular environment, including trauma, stroke, and surgical cases. This role involves managing complex patient conditions such as multi-trauma, gunshot wounds, STEMI, thrombectomy, and sepsis. The nurse will perform patient assessments, administer treatments, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position requires at least 2 years of critical care experience and certifications including ACLS, BLS, NIH, and a local fire card. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients with neurological, cardiovascular, trauma, and surgical conditions.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and manage critical care interventions such as CRRT and IABP.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Manage overflow patients between ICU and PCU units as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic electronic medical records.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years ICU or critical care nursing experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and Local Fire Card.
• Strong clinical skills in neuro, cardiovascular, trauma, and surgical nursing care.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with thrombectomy-capable stroke centers and STEMI receiving units.
• Familiarity with managing patients requiring CRRT, IABP, and sepsis protocols.
• Previous experience in Level 2 Trauma Centers.

Special Considerations:

• No weekend shifts required.
• On-call is not required.
• Floating between ICU and PCU overflow units is expected.
• Must have reliable transportation and licensure verified at time of submission.

Scheduling:

• Shift assignments will be provided based on unit needs; primarily day shifts with potential for variable scheduling.
• Work location is an acute care, Magnet-recognized hospital with 377 staffed beds.
