About the Position

Job Title: Charge Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Must be in hand prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO WORK CHARGE. Charge shifts are generally 1-2 per week, with occasional variations. In most cases, the charge nurse is not included in staffing, except when call-ins or unforeseen staffing challenges occur. Charge orientation will be provided with or without previous charge experience - willing to train. Description: The charge nurse will oversee unit operations during assigned shifts. Responsible for guiding and directing nursing staff. The charge nurse will ensure that patient care standards are met. May float within the hospital to meet facility needs. Weekend work is required, with an expectation of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Candidates must demonstrate competencies in managing complex patient care. Will be responsible for maintaining a patient ratio of 1:4 during night shifts. Interdisciplinary support is available from various services including therapy and pharmacy. This role requires skills in the management of cardiac and vasoactive drips. Health care delivery will focus on general medical/surgical patients needing progressive care.
