Positional Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Liability Claims Examiner to join a leading national claims management organization supporting a large commercial client portfolio. This remote opportunity is ideal for a claims professional with strong experience handling commercial general liability claims , including complex liability investigations, litigation management, and claim resolution.

The Claims Examiner will be responsible for analyzing and managing moderate to complex liability claims, evaluating coverage and exposure, negotiating settlements, coordinating investigations, and ensuring timely and compliant claim handling. Experience with product liability claims is highly desirable.

Role & Responsibility:

Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success

• Investigate and evaluate complex commercial general liability claims to determine liability, coverage, and exposure.
• Manage claims through strategic action plans from inception through final resolution.
• Assess liability and negotiate settlements within designated authority limits.
• Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves throughout the life of each claim.
• Approve claim payments, adjustments, and settlements in accordance with company guidelines.
• Coordinate and manage litigation activities, including collaboration with defense counsel, experts, and vendors.
• Prepare and submit required state filings and claim documentation within statutory timeframes.
• Identify and pursue subrogation and recovery opportunities when applicable.
• Report qualifying claims to excess carriers and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Utilize cost-containment strategies and vendor partnerships to achieve effective claim outcomes.
• Maintain regular communication with claimants, clients, attorneys, and internal stakeholders regarding claim status and developments.
• Ensure claim files are thoroughly documented and coded accurately.
• Escalate complex issues and high-exposure matters to management as appropriate.
• Support quality assurance initiatives and participate in special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and claims experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of commercial general liability claims handling experience .
• Active Adjuster License required.
• Experience handling complex liability investigations and claim resolution.
• Strong understanding of general liability coverage, insurance principles, and applicable regulations.
• Experience managing litigated claims and working with defense counsel.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting service expectations.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial general liability claim handling practices.
• Strong understanding of litigation management and cost-containment strategies.
• Knowledge of subrogation, recoveries, offsets, and claim resolution procedures.
• Exceptional organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive client relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling product liability claims .
• Florida Adjuster License or New York Adjuster License (or reciprocal state licensing).
• Third-Party Administrator (TPA) claims experience.
• Experience managing high-exposure commercial liability claims.
