Walk Laborer ORD Airport Casual Manual Labor ORD Airport, Franklin Park, IL, US Salary Range: $27.00 To $29.00 Hourly Walk Laborer Overview The Walk Laborer works with a team to keep high foot-traffic areas on the airfield safe and clear of ice/snow to allow continued airport operations. This includes keeping airport sidewalks and gate areas sage and clear of snow and ice. They will perform tasks that involve manual labor related to snow removal, such as shoveling, using a snowblower and spreading snow-melting chemicals. This work will be performed outdoors in winter weather and requires steady effort, dependability and communications with supervisors and crews. Rest breaks, snacks and warming opportunities during shifts will be provided. Walk Laborer Essential Duties and Responsibilities Shovel snow and/or operate snowblower to remove snow in designated areas Load and unload bags of salt into spreader or bucket Apply snow/ice management chemicals with a push spreader or manually Accurately and promptly follow directions from supervisor Walk Laborer Requirements Skills/ Experience Able to work 4-8 hours of physical labor outside. May involve longer shifts for heavier snowstorms if desired Transportation to and from Franklin Park office required Need to have a cell phone for clocking in, clocking out and communication with supervisor On-Call availability from October 15 th to April 30 th , must be willing and able to work long hours, weekends and holidays Required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, grasp, carry, push and pull Must be able to shovel snow for extended periods of time Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds plus Must provide own outdoor footwear (boots), clothing, gloves and head covering appropriate for outside conditions.
