About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Nephrology - Med Surg Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - General medical background - Positive attitude and teamwork - Dependability Description: This unit has 21 beds; all private except for one semi-private room. Overhead lift equipment is available in all rooms. Bedside report and 1-2 hour rounding on patients is required. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Common diagnoses include End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), hemo- and peritoneal dialysis patients, and various surgical post-operative cases. Experience in general medicine is preferred, while nephrology or urology background is a plus. Charge nurses are available 24/7; they normally do not take patients unless staffing requires it. Patient care technicians are present in a 1:10-11 ratio on days and nights. They assist with vital signs, bathing, and other shared duties. Respiratory therapists are available for any required assistance. Telemetry is monitored by technicians on another unit, and nurses receive alerts for rhythm changes. Flexible scheduling options are available to meet both traveler and unit needs. Weekend work is required every other weekend with the possibility of fewer shifts for night staff. Holiday shifts are expected every other holiday, but this can be negotiated. Floating to other general medicine units may occur but is infrequent. Any color scrubs are acceptable with no artificial nails, gel nails, or chipped polish. Visible tattoos and piercings must be covered, and only simple earrings are allowed.
