Intervention Specialist Math Secondary Title I – Lake Olympia Middle School 2026-2027 (26000124) Job Overview The Intervention Specialist Math Secondary Title I will implement a student-centered math intervention program designed to close the achievement gap. The incumbent will provide targeted math intervention and academic supports to small groups of students identified through state and local data. Responsibilities include analyzing data, planning and delivering focused interventions, monitoring academic growth, and collaborating with teachers and administrators to build a robust instructional intervention system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Intervention Design and deliver targeted, research-based mathematics instruction for designated students using adopted instructional resources and materials. Collaborate with campus administrators, teachers, and the Teaching and Learning Division to plan and deliver targeted student interventions aligned with the District’s Response to Intervention plan and Campus Improvement Plans. Utilize best practices for intervention, including small-group instruction using the pull-out and push-in models, co-teaching, and the use of math manipulatives and technology to build conceptual understanding. Collaborate with district and campus administrators and teachers to evaluate student achievement for the purpose of placing students in the appropriate intervention and identifying/delivering support services. Coordinate with campus administrators and teachers to organize mathematics intervention and enrichment activities for students. Facilitate the disaggregation of multiple sources of data to make instructional decisions. Implement instructional strategies that meet the needs of various student groups. Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring Analyze data from formative, interim, summative, and mathematics screeners to monitor student progress and plan focused interventions. Implement a progress monitoring system for all students within intervention groups aligned with the District Response to Intervention plan for progress monitoring. Regularly communicate with campus and district staff and parents regarding student progress. Collaborate with district and campus administrators and teachers to evaluate student achievement for placement and support services. Coordinate with campus administrators and teachers to organize mathematics intervention and enrichment activities for students. Collaborate with teachers and students to set and track student performance goals. Program Support Create and articulate a schedule with administrators of specialist activities for intervention. Support the coordination of the administration of the District mathematics screener and the use of corresponding data reports. Maintain research on best practices for math instruction, intervention, and enrichment at assigned grade levels. Provide support to teachers on implementing math instructional resources, including manipulatives and technology. Meet regularly with campus administrators to communicate student progress and determine shifts in student groups. Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner. Support faithful implementation of the written curriculum and intervention resources. Facilitate the implementation of the District mathematics screener. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred. Valid Texas Education Agency teaching certification appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a secondary math teacher. Demonstrated knowledge of and training on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), secondary math curriculum, and best practices in math instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of secondary math instruction and use of manipulatives to develop conceptual understanding. Demonstrated evidence of professional growth, including leadership or participation in a wide range of professional learning experiences. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills that promote collaboration. Comprehensive knowledge of instructional strategies, the role of Professional Learning Communities (PLC), data-driven decision making, student assessment, and instructional technology. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations, and meeting rooms. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying items weighing less than 40 pounds. The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts and may require prolonged or irregular hours. The employee must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Additional Information The position requires the employee to work evenings and weekends. This position is grant funded through Title I funds and may be discontinued if funds are no longer available.
