Maintenance Person

Job TitleThis is a full-time, union position with benefits and time off, upon meeting eligibility requirements. Employees start out at pay range Level 1 and progress through six pay range levels.Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms upkeep for the City and the City's Facilities.Cleans and repairs sewers, ditches, signs, and sidewalks.Performs street and road repairs.Operates a mower and performs various landscaping duties, leaf pickup, mulching, tree trimming, branch chipping, etc.Plows snow throughout City streets and City property.Operation of motor vehicles related to work duties.Performs various duties on construction projects.Must participate in all city-sponsored training and continuing education activities including classroom, manufacturer provided, seminars, etc.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and behaviors and correct them in a positive and appropriate manner.Ability to work as part of a team.Ability to keep a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio, Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement and an acceptable driving record.Must be eligible to work in the United States.Working ConditionsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
