The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare’s Culture of Choice®; actively and effectively participates in ensuring strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded; provides the management and oversight necessary to ensure assigned functional area(s) have the proper resources, metrics, and talent in place to effectively fulfill our mission to provide Healing Experiences for Everyone all the Time® and achieve organizational strategic (Game Plan) goals. The Manager assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for assigned functional area(s). This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy. 

The Pharmacy Operations Manager provides operational leadership and oversight for pharmacy services, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant medication-use processes. Serving as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy and designated successor, this role is responsible for daily workflow coordination, regulatory compliance, medication safety programs, compounding operations, and interdepartmental collaboration. The position plays a critical role in maintaining continuous operations, improving departmental performance, and supporting organizational growth. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manages operational planning within assigned functional area(s) to anticipate current /future service solutions.
• Manages implementation of growth strategies to support achievement of Parrish Healthcare Game Plan goals.     
• Assures the achievement of departmental dashboard metrics within each strategic pillar (People, Service, Quality, Growth, Finances); takes immediate and effective steps to assure national benchmarks are achieved or sustained. 
• Manages departmental systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in assigned areas of responsibility and care partners always providing excellent service excellence as measured by national best-practice benchmarks. 
• Pharmacy Operations: 
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations for PMC and Infusion Center, including workflow prioritization, staffing coordination, and technician supervision. 
  • b.       Ensure uninterrupted medication distribution and compounding services. 
  • c.        Improve efficiency and reduce patient care delays. 
• Regulatory Compliance 
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, USP 797, USP 795, and USP 800 and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Lead ongoing readiness efforts, including audits, documentation, and corrective action. 
  • Develop, review, and maintain policies and standard operating procedures as it related to Pharmacy Operations. 
• Medication Safety and Diversion Prevention
  • Lead the Medication Safety Program and chair associated committees. 
  • Collaborate with Director of Pharmacy on Drug Diversion Prevention initiatives. 
  • Implement monitoring, reporting, and risk mitigation strategies to enhance patient and care partner safety. 
• Compounding and Technical Services Oversight 
  • Competently compound hazardous, sterile, and non-sterile compounds/medications.  
  • Oversee non-sterile (USP 795), sterile (USP 797), and hazardous (USP 800) compounding operations. Serve as Designated Person for all three areas. 
  • Ensure compliance with USP standards and environmental controls.
  • Manage staff competency, training, and quality assurance processes.
• Automation and Technology Management 
  • Provide operational oversight of pharmacy automation systems and medication0use technologies. 
  • Ensure safe system configuration, optimization, and integration into workflows. 
  • Coordinate implementation of system upgrades and staff training. 
• Process Improvement and Collaboration 
  • Serve as liaison between pharmacy, nursing, and other departments. 
  • Identify workflow gaps and lead implementation of process improvements. 
  • Drive accountability for outcomes related to medication-use processes and system changes. 
• Leadership Development 
  • Function as Assistant Director of Pharmacy and assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director. 
  • Support staff development and leadership continuity within the department. 
  • Contribute to strategic planning, program development, and budgets. 
• Manages systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in a continuous improvement environment within which assigned area(s) and care partners always achieve national best/leading-practice standards for quality and safety as measured by CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies pertinent to areas of responsibility, holding self and others accountable for actions and outcomes. 
• Responsible for the adherence to all Parrish Healthcare policies and procedures as well as regulations and codes established by federal, state, and local governments affecting professional practice and industry regulations. Leads necessary certification, accreditation, and audit procedures; and ensures that reports required by regulatory agencies are prepared and submitted within established timeframes. 
• Manages systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in an inclusive, collaborative, healing work environment within which national best/leading-practice standards for employee engagement are achieved as measured by effective performance management, problem-solving and conflict resolution, mentoring aspiring care partners, and inspiring care partner commitment to our mission, vision, values, and safe care pledge. 
• Maintains skills and knowledge within professional practice for self and for assigned care partners; able to step in and serve as back up to assigned care partners to cover staffing needs as necessary. 
• Manages systems, processes, policies, and procedures that result in effective planning and administration of annual budget(s); productive, cost efficient and effective operations within assigned functional area(s); and effective corrective actions for any operating expenses that deviate from budget. 
• Performs other duties as assigned. 
• Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.              

Requirements:

Formal Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required. PharmD strongly preferred.
  Master’s degree in Health-System Pharmacy Administration, Business Administration or related field is also preferred. 
• Completion of PGY-1 Pharmacy residency required. PGY-2 Hospital Administration Residency is preferred. 

Work Experience:

• 3 years to < 5 years of experience in related area with two of those years being supervisory or management experience. Hazardous Drug Compounding, Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding experience required.  

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:

• Valid State of Florida Drivers License (FDL) and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that is acceptable to PMC’s corporate automobile insurance carrier — license will be screened prior to employment and annually thereafter. 
• Active and unrestricted Pharmacist License in Florida required.
• Florida Consultant License upon hire or required within 6 months of employment.
• Current Sigma Six Yellow Belt certification or required within one (1) year of employment. 
• Advanced Certifications in Medication Safety, Sterile Compounding, or Leadership preferred
