Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of ICU experience (floating experience not considered) License: Michigan nursing license verification required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: EKG experience required Willingness to float to similar units required Description: The Registered Nurse uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. The RN is a critical member of the unit that cares for a large volume of cardiology patients annually. Procedures performed include PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. Open heart surgery patients are also managed post-operatively on this unit. Specialized care is provided for patients with congestive heart failure and those undergoing electrophysiology studies. The unit participates in many national clinical trials related to cardiovascular care. The RN contributes to achieving optimal outcomes and exceptional patient care. A strict attendance policy is enforced to advocate for patient safety and care. Any RN who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift three times will be terminated. Situations such as communicable diseases or hospitalization with supporting evidence will be reviewed in favor of the RN. This policy reflects the commitment to high standards of care and accountability.
