POSITION SUMMARY

The Promise SSL Community Liaison is a direct-service staff who works with community members from diverse backgrounds and has a close understanding of the community they serve. This trusting relationship enables them to serve as a liaison between social services and the community to remove barriers, facilitate access to resources, and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. They build individual and community capacity by increasing knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of culturally and linguistically appropriate activities such as outreach, engagement, resource navigation, service referrals, community education, and advocacy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Community Outreach & Engagement:

• Assist Community Engagement Supervisor and PSSL Co-Op Coordinator in managing the entire operation of community engagement and community-led projects in all PSSL programs.
• Support community members in PSSL focus areas including: digital literacy, financial literacy, and workforce development
• Supports community and adult services and programming at community center locations.
• Work with community members to connect and creatively remove barriers to accessing programs and services available that best suit their needs, including all Promise SSL programs.
• Conduct intakes, assess, plan, implement, and monitor resources, services, and referrals to help individuals navigate complex systems to meet their needs.
• Implement or support existing community education efforts such as Parent Cafes, Conversation Club, and similar programs that promote peer learning, build social connections, and strengthen knowledge, confidence, and sense of belonging within the community.
• Communicate and distribute information on available/current resources and services.
• Work to create spaces that are safe and welcoming for everyone and prohibit discrimination
• Engage and empower community members with information, resources, and community services to achieve long-term and sustainable outcomes.
• Plan, schedule, and execute PSSL and other community engagement events and activities with SSL colleagues and partners.
• Involve community members in the completion of surveys, assessments, and other data collection.

2. Collaboration:

• Act as a liaison between PSSL programs, community members, and other community organizations.
• Build genuine relationships with community members that support overall well-being and development.
• Build and maintain partnerships that enhance programming and services.
• Collaborate with Family Engagement team to implement site-specific family and community engagement plans.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete projects and duties including client cases, engagement events, and outreach efforts.
• Participate in PSSL Coalition work and other Community Engagement groups as needed
• Attend other meetings as appropriate.

3. Administration:

• Supports community center and participant needs
• Opening and closing, staffing the front desk, maintaining clean and organized spaces
• Supports the overall safety, order, and accountability of participants and staff
• Assists participants in accessing programs, resources, classes, or services (printing, devices, etc.)
• Manage cases and complete required documentation
• Complete grant reporting and other required documentation on time.
• Collaborate with Center Coordinators on the development of a functional communication plan to ensure regular communication with partners, and community members.
• Utilize PSSL communication tools and processes.
• Maintain working knowledge of community resources and services.
