Growing together.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Design, code, test, document, and maintain high-quality and scalable big data solutionsHelp drive agile processes and mentor junior level members of the teamResearch, evaluate, and deploy new tools, frameworks and patterns to help build a sustainable big data platformIdentify gaps and opportunities for improvement of existing solutionsDefine and develop APIs for integration with various data sources in the enterpriseTranslate customer requirements into solution designMake accurate development effort estimates to assist management in project and resource planningCollaborate with management, quality assurance, architecture, and other development teamsWrite technical documentation and participate in production supportParticipate with prototypes as well as design and code reviewsKeep skills up to date through ongoing self-directed trainingThe ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can learn things quickly, who is enthusiastic and actively engagedYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience10+ years of hands-on software development experience8+ years of development experience with Scala, Python, JSON, Web Services5+ years of experience in distributed systems technologies like Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Snowflake5+ years of experience in relational databases (SQL)5+ years of experience in API development with Python or Java3+ years of experience in infrastructure services on at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred)1+ years of experience in scaling tools, such as ADF/AirflowDemonstrated experience mentoring and helping others growExperience with Agile/SCRUM methodologyPreferred Qualifications:4+ years of experience in Kafka or messaging services2+ years with NoSQL databases2+ years of working with Docker and KubernetesHealthcare industry experienceThorough understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) concepts*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
