Full-time Centerless Grinder

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-time Centerless Grinder to join our cutting-edge aerospace manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in set-up, automatic operations, and have a strong background in aerospace manufacturing processes. This position plays a crucial role in producing high-precision components for advanced aerospace systems and contributes to our company's mission of pushing the boundaries of innovation in the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain centerless grinding machines to produce high-precision aerospace components
• Set up and adjust grinding machines for various operations, including through-feed, in-feed, and end-feed grinding
• Program and operate CNC-controlled centerless grinders for automated production runs
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine grinding specifications and tolerances
• Select appropriate grinding wheels, regulating wheels, and work rests based on material properties and desired finish
• Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to grinding operations, machine performance, and product quality
• Conduct regular maintenance on grinding equipment, including wheel dressing, coolant management, and general upkeep
• Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to optimize grinding processes and improve product quality
• Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
• Train and mentor junior operators on centerless grinding techniques and best practices
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in the grinding process
• Maintain accurate records of production data, machine settings, and quality control measurements
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in centerless grinding technology and aerospace manufacturing techniques

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification in machining or related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in centerless grinding, with a focus on aerospace applications
• Proficiency in setting up and operating both manual and CNC-controlled centerless grinding machines
• In-depth knowledge of grinding wheel selection, dressing techniques, and coolant management
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials, including various alloys, composites, and exotic metals
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control procedures
• Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed
