Human Resources GeneralistThe Human Resources Generalist administers Human Resources related activities for a specified branch or region. Works directly with employees, supervisors, and Human Resources leadership to ensure compliance with Association policies and procedures and applicable employment law. Supports HR leadership in coordinating employee relation issues and investigations. Promotes equity, fair treatment and positive employee relations.SCHEDULE:This position is Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM, weekends and nights as required.WORK DESIGNATION:In-Person (location Dan McKinney Family YMCA, Ryan Family YMCA, and weekly onboarding at the Association Office in Kearny Mesa) Please note that the work designation may change based on business needs.RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborate with operational and Human Resources leadership to effectively execute Human Resources processesPartner within assigned area to ensure Human Resources process, policies and procedures are being administered in a consistent mannerCollaborate with Human Resources leadership to identify opportunities and implement initiativesAssists with investigations for employee relations claims and ensures objective and fair treatment of all employees in these investigationsAssists in the termination process of employees of assigned area/branchPoint of contact for Human Resources related questions from employees or managers and may direct them as appropriateTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Must have access to reliable transportation to travel regularly throughout San Diego CountyQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience2+ years' experience working in Human Resources or certificate in Human ResourcesStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines simultaneouslyKeen understanding of local, state and federal employment lawStrong ability for conflict managementData management skills and ability to use data to effectively influence decisionsProficient in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word)JOB COMPETENCIES:Relationships: Builds relationships to create small communitiesCommunication: Effectively tailors communications to the appropriate audienceProject Management: Establishes goals, clarifies tasks, plans work and actively participates in meetingsFunctional Expertise: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technologyPRE-HIRE CONTINGENCIES:Licensing, state law, and government funders require that all staff (hybrid, remote, or onsite) within YMCA San Diego County are fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notificationsCPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health InstitutePosition may require additional clearances in order to comply with all program, licensing, state law, and funding requirements: Exclusion and Debarment checks prior to first day and monthly thereafterYMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
