Phlebotomist | Lab Phlebotomy - Twelve Hour Shifts, Day 6a-6:30p

Job Overview Lab position at Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS), a non‑profit healthcare organization located at 1320 W. Main St., Newark, OH 43055, USA. Locations 1320 W. Position Responsibilities Draw patient blood samples from neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations following established aseptic techniques, either within the department or in other patient care areas as necessary including home draws and nursing home patients. Collect throat and nasal cultures. Assist in answering telephone inquiries. Participate in capillary blood collection, billing/registration of non‑patient specimens as well as patients coming to outpatient to be drawn and/or dropping off specimens, specimen processing and other appropriate assignments. Collect chain of custody "post‑accident" urines for Company Care clients and handle random employee urine drug screens for LMH. Maintain supplies in outpatient and blood draw baskets, checking expiration dates and documenting in logbook. Maintain positive patient/specimen identification and patient confidentiality. Document instructions to patients for collection of specimen in logbook. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Work requires a high school level of knowledge and the ability to understand laboratory tests offered and the types of specimens required for these tests. Must be able to pass the National Certification for Phlebotomists Test within two years of being employed. Continued employment is contingent upon this requirement. Maintain compliance with safety equipment following OSHA regulations. Maintain certification in CPR. Knowledge, skill and ability to provide care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population. LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
