Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry \n Discipline: RN \n Start Date: ASAP \n Duration: 13 weeks \n 36 hours per week \n Shift: 12 hours, days \n Employment Type: Travel \n \n \n Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $ 2108.92 \n \n Opportunity: \n RN - MedSurg General Medical \n Job Details: \n • 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM \n • Every other weekend required with potential for more depending on department needs \n • No specific holiday requirement, may rotate in with core staff \n • No on-call requirement, but may be placed on standby for low census \n • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on day shift and 1:4-6 on night shift \n • Nurse aide support available with ratios of 1:7-9 for both day and night shifts \n • Charge nurse available 24/7 and typically does not take a patient assignment; break/resource nurse, house supervisor, and critical care outreach RN also available 24/7 \n • Remote telemetry monitored by tele tech on a separate unit; nurses must have basic understanding of strip interpretation and lethal rhythms using Philips Monitors \n • Common patient diagnoses include GI, pneumonia, cellulitis, renal, CHF, DM, ETOH withdrawal, electrolyte imbalances, infectious patients, general medical patients, and psych patients with medical complaints \n • Preferred skills include deescalation techniques, chest tube management, heparin drips, and NG/feeding tubes \n • Titratable drips include heparin and cardizem; set rate drips include amiodarone; vasopressors are never titrated \n • RT equipment includes no vents, nighttime CPAP for maintenance, high flow oxygen, and occasional BiPAP managed by RT \n • Travelers are first to float within skill set and may float to other med-surg units, ICU as a resource, ER for holds, or to various units as a sitter \n • No block scheduling; travelers are utilized to fill holes in the schedule with no scheduling request accommodations \n • Bedside report and hourly rounding are highly emphasized; teamwork is a must \n • Unit orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts \n • Charting system: EPIC \n • Required certification: BLS \n • Professional scrubs in any color required; no tattoos visible above the shoulders; only facial piercing allowed is a nose stud; any hair color permitted if clean and well-kempt \n • BSN not required \n • 36 private beds on the unit \n Facility: \n This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of medical services to the community. The medical-surgical unit features 36 private beds and provides comprehensive support through 24/7 charge nurse coverage, house supervisors, critical care outreach RNs, and remote telemetry monitoring.
