Position Position Summary We are pleased to welcome applicants to our prestigious Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program designed to nurture and empower the next generation of mental health professionals. Residency Program Overview Blackbird’s Residency Program will prepare the next generation of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to practice with confidence as specialists in child/adolescent mental healthcare. Residency is a 9–12 month program designed for recent graduates or those who have not worked under licensure to jumpstart their careers in the field. The program supports the transition from graduate school to professional practice by combining clinical experience and didactic learning. Residents will be given tools and support to provide children and adolescents with cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment with personalized care while learning to thrive in an interdisciplinary outpatient model. Residents will grow with colleagues and develop relationships that support practice and success in the PMHNP profession. After successful completion, graduates may have the opportunity to join the Blackbird medical team for at least 2 years following residency completion. About the Role Under the supervision of the Director of the Residency Program, you’ll help deliver comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, treatment planning, and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. You’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and make a tangible difference in the lives of young patients and their families. Key Responsibilities Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses, creating personalized treatment plans that may include prescribing medications and other treatments. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychotherapists, on integrated treatment plans and medication management. Work from our clinic in Pittsburgh, PA up to 3 days a week (as needed). Meet with residency cohort and supervisor to discuss progress and challenges regularly. Provide education and consultation for patients and their families. Manage diagnostic testing, including digital and lab results. Participate in weekly team and supervisory clinical meetings. Maintain thorough records of patient meetings and progress and maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations. Performs other clinical-related activities as assigned. Qualifications We’re looking for passionate, dedicated clinicians who are ready to make a difference and are seeking a unique opportunity to learn as a first-year psychiatric nurse practitioner. Requirements: Have national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. 12 of your 40 weekly hours are required to be during peak after-school hours (after 4 pm ET during the week) or any time on weekends. Flexibility to work in person at our Pittsburgh, PA clinic up to 3 days a week (as needed). Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program (PMHNP, Master’s in NP); must have graduated in the last ~12 months or have less than 1 year of PMHNP work experience. Active PMHNP license and DEA in Pennsylvania (or on track to receive by residency start). Upon completing the 12-month residency, participants will join the Blackbird Clinical Services team for an additional two-year period, totaling at least three years of commitment.
