Role Description The Payroll Specialist / HR Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in North Canton, OH. This position is responsible for processing weekly or bi-weekly payroll, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations. Daily tasks include entering and reviewing timekeeping data, resolving payroll discrepancies, managing new hire onboarding documentation, and updating changes in compensation and benefits. The role supports HR functions such as maintaining personnel files, assisting with benefits enrollment, coordinating leaves of absence, and responding to employee questions about payroll and HR policies. The Payroll Specialist / HR Coordinator also helps with reporting, audits, and process improvements to support efficient and compliant HR and payroll operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with payroll processing, timekeeping systems, and basic knowledge of wage and hour laws.
• Familiarity with HR coordination tasks, including onboarding, personnel record maintenance, and benefits support.
• Strong proficiency in office software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing) and ability to learn payroll/HRIS systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-service mindset when supporting employees and managers.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in North Canton, OH, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
• Previous experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources in a manufacturing or construction environment is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education or HR/payroll certifications (such as CPP or SHRM) are a plus.
