Eligible positions may also qualify for additional compensation through our Clinical Nursing Ladder Program and applicable shift, weekend, certification, or other differentials.Additional Compensation OpportunitiesLicensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.50/hour | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$3.00/hourNon-Licensed Positions: NOC Shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM): +$3.00/hour | Weekend Shift (12:00 AM Saturday–11:59 PM Sunday): +$2.00/hourJob SummaryUnder the general direction of the House Supervisor or department director, the ED RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department setting. Must respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or responses to treatment.Essential FunctionsPerform patient assessments considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age. Uses appropriate screening tools effectively. Applies the ESI Triage Scale to determine patient's acuity.Demonstrates understanding of pathophysiology, disease processes, and treatment standards. Applies nursing diagnoses to identified needs.Formulates a care plan based upon identified needs and facilitates interventions and referrals as appropriate.Performs interventions in a competent manner, applying evidence-based standards of care and protocols to guide actions. Knowledgeable regarding medications, indications, interactions, and contraindications, considering age of the patient and their clinical condition. Evaluates effectiveness of all interventions.Formulates individualized teaching plans, evaluating effectiveness of learning. Patient and family interactions are professional.Familiar with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. TNCC (Emergency Nurse Association) or ATCN are required within 6 months; NRP Advanced (American Heart Association) and STABLE certifications areA minimum of 1 year of experience in an Acute Care setting is required.Minimum 1 year experience in Emergency Department setting is preferred.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesComputer skills are required, specifically using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); prior use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for documenting in patient records isExcellent communication skills, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and organizationalA demonstrated ability to work well in high pressure situations isRepresent the organization in a positive and professionalPhysical RequirementsPhysical DemandsOn-the-job time is spent in the following physical activities:Up to 1/3 of the time: taste or smell.From 1/3 to 1/2 of the time: sit; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.Up 2/3 of the time and more: stand; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; push/pull; reach with hands and arms.This job requires that weight be lifted, or force be exerted as follows:Up to 1/3 of the time: up to 100 poundsFrom 1/3 to 1/2 of the time: up to 10 poundsThis job has special vision requirements as follows:Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThis job requires exposure to the following environmental conditions:Up to 1/3 of the time: work near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; risk of radiation.The typical noise level for the work environment is: very quiet to moderate noise.Hearing requirements: ability to hear alarms on equipment, patient call and instructions.This job requires the following repetitive motion actions:From 1 – 2 hours per day: grasping: firm/heavy.From 7+ hours per day: repetitive use of hands; grasping: simple/light; fine dexterity.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
