Program Specialist, Assessment

Summary The Assessment Program Specialist is responsible for planning and providing support, resources, and professional learning to schools in support of the District-wide implementation of effective assessment practices, including assessment literacy, assessment development, formative instructional practices, and data-driven instruction. Note: This position is grant-funded and thereby staffed year-to-year Supports District and school-based staff in the implementation of effective assessment practices: Develops and leads the implementation of resources and protocols for data-driven instruction Designs and delivers professional learning on all aspects of assessment, including, but not limited to: Assessment design and development Instructional planning Balanced assessment Formative instructional practices Assessment leadership Data analysis and action decision making Creates and executes individualized support plans for schools identified by District leadership Manages and provides user support for assessment technologies Responds to technical questions Troubleshoots platform issues Works in collaboration with other departments to: Builds and maintains valid and reliable District assessments Ensures high-quality assessment practices drive instruction in all content areas Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Education or A closely related field Certification/Licensure None required Valid and clear teaching certificate preferred Experience Qualifications Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience required; 3 years of leadership experience preferred; Prior experience with leading the implementation of balanced assessment practices and professional staff development preferred; Experience using assessment technologies (e.g. Illuminate) preferred; Experience working within a large, complex organization preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Detailed knowledge and experience with developing balanced assessment plans, building standards-based assessments, and using data to inform instruction Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple assessment topics and grade levels Knowledge of basic concepts of psychometrics, including reliability, validity, and fairness Demonstrated ability to plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously to meet short-term objectives and long-term goals Demonstrated ability to implement cycles of continuous improvement and develop innovative solutions that address challenges Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including district/school administrators, teachers, and/or community members Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Working Conditions Normal office environment Will require travel between schools Physical Demands Routine physical activity associated with normal office environment Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally It is the policy of the Fulton County School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
