Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

Job Description

This role operates production machinery in a small manufacturing facility that produces bubble wrap and reflective wrap used in construction and packaging applications. You load bulk materials, monitor and adjust machine settings, and use basic measuring instruments to ensure products meet specifications while maintaining a clean and safe work area in a hot production environment.

Responsibilities

• Manually load bulk material into production machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
• Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to speed and temperature settings to maintain consistent product quality.
• Use a thickness gauge and other basic quality instruments to verify that products meet client specifications.
• Follow work instructions and production guidelines to ensure consistent output and minimize waste.
• Perform basic packaging tasks, including handling finished products and preparing them for shipment or further processing.
• Read and interpret simple blueprints or production diagrams as needed to set up or verify machine operations.
• Use hand tools to perform minor adjustments or basic maintenance on equipment when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including removing debris and keeping equipment free of buildup.
• Adhere to safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working around hot machinery and materials.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
• Work overtime as needed, including additional weekday or weekend hours based on production demands.

Essential Skills

• Experience in general production or manufacturing environments.
• Previous machine operator or machine operating experience.
• Ability to use a thickness gauge and other basic quality instruments to check product specifications.
• Ability to follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Capability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Comfort working in a hot manufacturing environment for the duration of the shift.
• Basic familiarity with hand tools for minor adjustments or tasks.
• Attention to detail to monitor machine settings and product quality.
• Reliability to work 3rd shift hours and accommodate overtime as production demands.

Work Environment

This is a small manufacturing facility that produces bubble wrap and reflective wrap commonly used at construction sites and in packaging. The production process relies on heat to adhere layers of material, resulting in a consistently hot work environment. The available opening is on 3rd shift, running from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with overtime expected and additional Friday work as production demands. There is also a 2nd shift schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with potential Saturday overtime, although current openings are on 3rd shift. You work on and around industrial production machinery and use hand tools and basic measuring equipment such as thickness gauges. The role is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, movement, and lifting up to 50 pounds in a hot environment. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety around heated equipment and moving machinery.

This is a Permanent position based out of Markleville, IN.

The pay range for this position is $48298.00 - $49338.00/yr.
