The Fire Department of Liberty Township is seeking an Entry Level Customer Support Specialist to join our team in Clayton. Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for public inquiries via phone, email, and online channels
• Provide accurate information regarding non-emergency fire department services, programs, and policies
• Process and track requests for public records, permits, and inspection reports
• Document all customer interactions and maintain detailed, organized records in departmental systems
• Route complex or urgent inquiries to appropriate fire prevention or administrative personnel
• Assist residents with scheduling non-emergency appointments and follow-up communications
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and timely responses to community needs
• Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to support workflows and response times
• Adhere to confidentiality and public safety protocols when handling sensitive information
• Participate in training sessions to stay current on department procedures and community resources

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service, call center, or administrative support roles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong active listening and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with basic computer applications, email, and data entry
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with reliable internet access
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm and empathetic when assisting community members
• Willingness to learn departmental policies and public safety procedures
• Preferred: Prior experience in a government, public safety, or emergency services environment
