Facilities Manager Projects I - Project Manager

Overview The Project Manager leads execution of Contract Colleges’ state funded critical maintenance capital construction projects. They work independently and collaboratively, using professional judgment to facilitate decisions throughout all project phases, and apply the Skills for Success to meet responsibilities and essential functions. Responsibilities Leadership of project teams. Project administration and development. Procurement and contract management. Design management. Construction management. Process and approval management. Develop project success criteria and steer projects through University, State, and limited municipal approval processes. Lead architect/engineer selection processes and manage AE contracts. Participate in design development and interdisciplinary reviews for constructability and code compliance. Prepare front-end bid documents and contracts to ensure compliance with University and State requirements. Manage project budgets and oversee construction and other project contracts through punch list and closeout. Prioritize workload to meet stakeholder needs and align with project schedules. Use proprietary Trimble software for project related activities. Maintain effective relationships with all project stakeholders, including customers, University administrators, staff, faculty, the State University Construction Fund, CCF staff, colleagues, AE firms, and contractors. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a relevant field, or equivalent education and experience. Five to seven years of project management experience encompassing planning & development, procurement & contract management, design management, construction management, and closeout. Experience in commercial and institutional construction from the perspective of managing the entire project. Proven ability to drive projects to successful conclusions in a collaborative and politically sensitive environment. Ability to manage multiple complex projects with varying scope and stages of completion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Willingness to gain working knowledge of proprietary Trimble project management software. Knowledge of NYS Building Codes, National Electrical Code, and other NFPA standards. Valid U.S. driver’s license; may need to operate a vehicle for site travel. Ability to incorporate perspectives of multiple communities and model values supporting inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing. Strong budget management, contract administration, industry knowledge, and stakeholder relationship management skills. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field, New York State licensed engineer or registered architect, with campus experience. Capital‑project experience on a university campus. Experience managing public capital projects such as SUNY/SUCF. Certification as CMAA Construction Manager or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).
