LPN Clinic

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Ochsner Health, you provide direct patient care, including IV therapy, under the direction of a registered nurse, and support nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality personalized care. Responsibilities Provide patient care and administer IV therapy within the framework of the Licensed Practical Nurse Act. Direct and assist ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties. Apply the nursing process for patient care, including data gathering, planning and evaluation. Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families and co‑workers to ensure a quality patient experience. Adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner throughout the day as unit or department needs change. Manage personal professional development and maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Education - High school diploma or equivalent. Work Experience - None. Certifications - Current licensed practical nursing (LPN) license in state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; preferred IV therapy credentials. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent organizational and time‑management skills and good judgment. Good interpersonal and delegation skills. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. Physical and Environmental Demands Heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Routine duties require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area with possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications or hazardous waste.
