Property Tax Analyst

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.PROPERTY TAX ANALYSTWe are seeking an experienced property tax professional responsible for managing property tax compliance, audits, and appeals processes nationwide, and supporting all aspects of property tax strategy and savings initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Gather and review data and coordinate with external service providers to prepare personal property tax returns across all U.S. statesWork with the fixed asset accounting team to ensure accuracy in data and reportingReview assessment notices to identify any discrepancies and savings opportunitiesPerform tax technical research related to property tax matters and stay informed on changes in property tax laws and trendsManage external consultants and track and review progress, establish and communicate clear expectationsWork with government affairs team to identify new, and maintain existing, reimbursement programs, abatement agreements, and other incentives that provide property tax reliefIdentify property tax savings opportunities and collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross functional teams to develop and execute property tax appeal strategiesPrepare property tax audits responses and resolutionPrepare and maintain tax calendar or database for property tax payments, filings, and appeal activity and resultsEnsure timely payments of property tax bills as well as assist in various administrative mattersResolve tax notices and similar mattersAssist with special projects and process improvement initiatives for other indirect tax mattersFacilitate annual site inspections with county appraisersBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, real estate, finance or other business disciplines2+ years of work experience as a property tax professional in a consulting firm or at a multi-state companyPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Professional experience with Microsoft Excel Strong knowledge of property tax laws, assessment and valuation methodologiesExperience with managing relationships with external consultantsExperience with appeals process in Texas, and other statesFamiliarity with other areas of state and local taxationExperience with property taxes related to the manufacturing industry or complex propertiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area), and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be consideredWilling to work extended hours as necessaryCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay Range: Level 1: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00Level 2: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
