Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a telemetry unit, focusing on assessment, intervention, and patient education. Demonstrates proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and managing complex cardiac cases in an acute care setting. Ensures patient safety and promotes a collaborative care environment.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patient conditions through thorough assessments and monitoring of vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
• Administer and titrate medications and IV drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Lasix, Insulin, and Heparin, following protocol-driven guidelines.
• Recognize and respond promptly to arrhythmias and hemodynamic changes, escalating care as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, and patients’ families to coordinate care plans and ensure understanding.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, medication administration, and response to treatments.
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Valid CA Registered Nurse (RN) license with current Nursys verification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS certification required.
• Minimum of one year recent experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry unit.
• Demonstrated proficiency in rhythm recognition, interpreting telemetry strips, and managing cardiac drips.
• Strong clinical knowledge of medication protocols, electrolyte management, and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and patients in high-pressure situations.
