EMS Paramedic (Full-Time)

The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for an EMS Paramedic (Full-time) in the Emergency Services Department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County. *This position operates on a rotating schedule of 48/96 (2 days on / 4 days off).* POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this position is responsible for administering emergency medical care and transporting injured or sick persons to medical facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responds to 911 EMS calls. Administers first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings. Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures during ambulance ride. Observes, records, and reports to physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment. Assesses the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures. Writes reports detailing care provided; ensures patient care reports and records are maintained per state and department policy. Cleans and performs chores required for the upkeep of the station. Ensures daily medical supply and inventory (including controlled medications) are maintained per policy. Participates in training and continued education. Reports damaged or missing apparatus or equipment. Performs any and all other related assignments or duties as assigned. Minimum two (2) years of experience, prior to application, preferred. Current and valid Texas Department of State Health Services as a Paramedic with Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS certification, preferred. Must possess a valid Texas Driver License. Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years of experience, prior to application, preferred. Current and valid Texas Department of State Health Services as a Paramedic with Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS certification, preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may work in confined spaces and around moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or chemicals, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to work in areas where there is vehicular traffic nearby. Work environment will vary. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Perform sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations. Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate maintenance equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, climbing, stooping, reaching, walking, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are inside and outside with routine repeated exposure to temperature variations, damp/wet surfaces, hazardous materials, and dirty environment.
