The Opportunity

Seeking an experienced, technically fluent Technical Project Manager to own delivery of websites and web applications for museums, nonprofits, universities, and B2B organizations. This role sits at the intersection of client management, technical team leadership, and PMO process ownership. The right candidate leads complex projects with confidence, translates technical work into clear client communication, coaches junior team members, and actively makes our delivery processes better.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive project management experience at a digital agency or consulting firm.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex web projects, including scope, budget, schedule, and client communication.
• Previous development experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Drupal and/or WordPress sufficient to lead technical conversations with engineering teams without developer support.
• Solid grasp of Agile practices including Scrum and Kanban, with experience mentoring others on process.
• Experience collaborating with sales or client development teams on scoping, estimating, and proposal development.
• Familiarity with AI tools relevant to project delivery, with a habit of researching and sharing what’s useful with peers.
• Strong client presentation and communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to produce concise, professional memos, technical specifications, and project documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Previous success working remotely.

Responsibilities

• Technical Project Delivery - Own end-to-end delivery of complex web and technical projects from discovery through maintenance and support. Manage scope, schedule, and budget proactively, run standups, anticipate cross-team impacts, and hold yourself and the team accountable to commitments.
• Client Relationship Management - Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project lifecycle. Translate complex technical information into clear, accessible communication, present delivery plans confidently in client meetings, and draft client-facing documentation.
• Engineering Team Collaboration - Lead day-to-day collaboration between development and PM teams. Negotiate resource needs, work with engineering to identify scope or technical approaches that reduce cost or risk, create development tickets, and ensure handoffs, reporting, and post-deployment support are consistent.
• Process & Delivery Excellence - Own process optimization for your projects and contribute to PMO-wide methodology. Identify inefficiencies, implement improvements, define technical delivery processes, and maintain high standards for documentation and reporting.
• Tool & AI Adoption - Research AI tools and trends relevant to project delivery efficiency. Share insights with peers and help drive adoption of improvements to our PM and delivery toolset.

Success Metrics

In your first 3 months 

• Take full ownership of an active project portfolio and establish yourself as the primary client contact across all assigned accounts.
• Participate in at least one pre-sales scoping conversation with the Client Development team.
• Audit our current project processes and identify at least one improvement to propose to PM leadership.
• Build proficiency with Urban Insight’s PM toolset, delivery process, and project documentation standards.

By the end of your first year

• Deliver all assigned projects on time and within budget, with documented client satisfaction.
• Contribute at least one process improvement to the PMO that is adopted by the broader team.
• Support at least two successful proposal wins by delivering accurate, technically sound scopes and estimates.
• Deliver at least one AI/tools research summary shared with the PM team.

Your Career Path

The position offers multiple career paths within Urban Insight. The most likely path for a high-achieving team member is: Technical Project Manager → Senior Technical Project Manager → Technical Project Delivery Lead. 

Location & Availability

• Work from any location in the United States, available 9am - 6pm in any U.S. time zone.
• Our office is located in sunny Los Angeles, CA. This position is available for fully remote (U.S. and Canada ONLY), partially remote (a few days in the office), or in-person in our L.A. Office.

Compensation

We offer a highly competitive salary, which depends on your qualifications and experience. Our salary package includes:

• $85,000 - 105,000 salary depending on experience
• Medical, Dental and Vision insurance (95% employer-paid for the individual)
• Paid time off (15 days increasing to 20 after four years)
• Holiday time off (~10 days per year)
• Company-sponsored 401(k) plan with employer match
• An annual customized training plan and time to study
