Job Description – RN (Registered Nurse), MedSurg/Tele/Oncology (2W)
Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a) |

Care Setting: Acute | Division: Nursing
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Charting System: Cerner

• 27 beds (13 private, 14 semi-private)
• Ratios: 1:4 tele patients, 1:5 MedSurg patients (mixed team stays at 1:4)
• Common diagnoses: Acute/chronic medical conditions, post-surgical patients (including total joints — must be comfortable with this population), urology, GYN, podiatry, general surgery, potential stroke patients
• Cerner experience preferred
• No titratable drips, except Heparin drips (no cardiac drips on this unit)
• Remote telemetry (Philips); monitor tech stationed on 4W cardiac tele unit; RNs required to read, interpret, and sign off on strips as well
• House Supervisor in-house 24/7; Nurse Manager during business hours; Nurse Shift Managers + Charge/Break Nurse each shift
• CNAs available based on census
• RT equipment: CPAP/BiPAP per order (no vents)
• Holiday requirement: 1 major + 1 minor minimum
• Floating: Travelers float first — may go to Mercy Downtown (~6.5 miles away), any MedSurg Tele unit, ICU (for MedSurg Tele patients), or ER (for MedSurg Tele holds)
• Scrub color: Navy blue (undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets must be navy; no hoodies/sweatshirts)
• Unit/department-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts with preceptor

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience – Required
• Active RN license required 

Required Certifications:

• ACLS
• BLS Certification
• NIHSS (AHA or APEX)
