Firmware Test EngineerLocation: Berkeley, CA 94710Duration: 06 months of contract to hire | OnsitePay Range: $60/Hr. to $65/Hr.The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance, paid parking/public transportation, paid time, paid sick and safe time, hours of paid vacation time, weeks of paid parental leave, paid holidays annually - AS ApplicableJob DescriptionTranslate product requirements into detailed verification tests managed in Jama.Select the appropriate SIL or HIL test strategy for each requirement.Develop and automate test cases using Python and pytest.Verify overall BMS software performance, safety, and reliability.Identify firmware bugs early in the release cycle through systematic testing.Debug complex embedded systems and isolate issues across software and physical electrical hardware.Collaborate with Firmware, Systems, and Hardware teams to improve test coverage and accelerate releases.Document test results, defects, and requirements traceability.Must-HavesDemonstrated experience with Python and pytest for automated testing.Experience testing and debugging embedded software or firmware.Hands-on experience with embedded communication protocols, particularly CAN.Experience working in HIL environments.Nice-to-HavesExperience with both HIL and SIL testing.Battery Management System or energy-storage experience.Jama or comparable requirements-management experience.Experience verifying safety-critical embedded systems.Additional protocol experience with SPI, UART, I2C, or Ethernet.Experience integrating automated firmware tests into CI/CD pipelines.
