Management Trainee Positions

Essential functions depending on level of management trainee role might include:

• Producing annual budget and achieving budgeted goals
• Overseeing and following goals presented in budgets
• Working with sales and inventory managers to identify orders on product
• Ensuring all orders are processed in a timely and sound manner
• Overseeing nursery marketing in conjunction with the sales and marketing department focusing on specific promotions to enhance sales, availability communication, customer appreciation, promotional materials, and customer specific events
• Assisting with purchasing wholesale materials
• Establishing quantity needed to supplement inventory shortages
• Following budget to help determine these quantities
• Keeping track of inventory and distinguishing any discrepancies to the warehouse manager
• Continuing to develop and improve pesticide program and education
• Identifying newest chemicals and those that have been discontinued
• Overseeing maintaining of chemical usage log
• Overseeing maintaining MSDS
• Hiring employees and conducting training, assisting with payroll duties
• Assigning work schedules and duties to employees, hiring employees, and supervising their work
• Preparing employees schedules or work assignments
• Entering time off hours and approving hours for payroll
• Maintaining safety awareness
• Safety sensitive position
• Ensuring all policies, procedures, and rules are being followed and those that violate are appropriately disciplined
• Implementing safety training
• Explaining and enforcing safety regulations and policies to employees
• Communicating organizational policies and procedures
• Accommodating employees with a job with light duty restrictions
• Providing information to customers on the care of all goods and products sold and advising customers on procedural issues in addition to excellent customer service
• Assisting General Manager meetings as needed

Experience/Skills:

• Ability to effectively coordinate and complete numerous activities simultaneously
• Ability to identify problems and work in conjunction with others to implement effective solutions
• Independent judgment to develop creative solutions to spontaneous problems that may arise
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to work effectively under pressure
• Forklift experience and certification required
• Full Time Position (10 hour days in most cases)
• The work requires walking and standing entire shift
• Must be able to lift, pull, push, and/or carry 50lbs.
• Work Environment is weather dependent. Summer heat and winter cold are consistent work temperatures
• Pre employment drug screening required
• Will need to operate equipment or drive on company business
