Teaching Assistants-SPED

Location Special Education – Airline Academy / Maywood Academy / District Locations Schedule Monday-Friday @ 6 hours-7.5 hours per day depending on location) Basic Function Enforcement of previously introduced skills and implementation of daily classroom routines. Responsibilities To carry out the organization of instructional materials and learning centers as planned and directed by the classroom teacher. To monitor and reinforce skills and concepts previously taught by the teacher in individual or small group learning situations within the educational environment and under the supervision and control of the classroom teacher. Sign language skills required for some classrooms. Salary BOCES employee salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with contract language. Start Date September 1, 2026 – continuous recruitment through June 30, 2027 Closing Date

Qualifications The selected applicant must hold NYS Teaching Assistant certificate or must apply for certification at the time of hire (requirements include but not limited to high school diploma/GED/HSE, $35 filing fee, NYS certification ATAS exam, workshops). Experience with students who are disabled and in need of behavior management.
