Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Position Description

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Patient ratios are an estimation based on the unit and are not guaranteed.

Unit Profile

Location: Augusta, GA

Number of Beds: 29
Patient Ratios: Ideally 1:4, currently running 1:5
Unit Staffing Description: Unit Coordinators and Patient Care Technicians available
Type of Equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Welch Allyn Vital Sign machines, bladder scan, vein finder
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling Requirements: 36 hours per week
Floating Policy: All staff float to areas of their competencies
Patient Experience Requirements: Must provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care

Hiring Profile

Requested Skill Set

Must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Familiarity with cardiac drips and insulin drips
Required certification: ACLS

Dress Code

Royal Blue Scrubs
No artificial or gel nails

Unit Guidelines and Policies

Vital Signs assessment every 4 hours (may be more frequent based on patient condition)
Blood glucose checks as ordered
Required documentation and assessment every shift

Team Environment

The team in the PCU is cohesive and works well together. The ideal candidate should be a team player. Staff have the option to self-schedule and accommodate others, particularly those who prefer night shifts.
