Construction Engineer

Job Description

Mackie Consultants, LLC, a leading civil engineering and land surveying consultant located in Rosemont, IL, has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineer to join our growing construction inspection team .

The selected candidate should possess knowledge and experience in construction engineering and inspection for both private- and public-sector projects, including, but not limited to, mass grading, utility installation, roadway design and construction, and private development.

\n

\n

The candidate will also oversee the construction of roadway and utility infrastructure projects. The role may include part-time engineering design, plan review, and cost estimation.

\n

\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Serve as the on-site project representative and liaison to the owner/client.
\n
• Perform all required aspects of project contract administration.
\n
• Perform construction inspection activities.
\n
• Prepare design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
\n
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
\n
• Lead and attend client meetings.
\n
• Supervise, review, and mentor staff.
\n
• Assist with project administration, document control, and project scheduling.
\n
• Perform other assignments as needed.
\n

Key Qualifications

\n

\n
• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 4+ years of construction or hybrid design-construction experience.
\n
• PE license or progress toward PE licensure preferred.
\n
• IDOT experience required.
\n
• IDOT certifications required.
\n
• Working knowledge of and experience with state and regional standards.
\n
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
\n
• Knowledge of MicroStation preferred.
\n
• Valid driver’s license required.
\n
