Surveyor Party Chief

Thompson Engineering has a full‑time opportunity for a Survey Party Chief. The Survey Party Chief oversees the survey crew in the daily responsibilities of the land surveying department and reports survey data to the Survey Team Manager. Ideal candidates must be able to travel to support various project needs. Duties Oversee the daily functions of the survey crew Set up and complete the survey crew on job sites under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor Ensure proper reporting of daily work logs to the Org Manager Reduce survey data to the Org Manager Interpret blueprints/plans/deeds to effectively lead the survey crew Drive company vehicle to and from job sites Operate all survey equipment and interpret data to report information to the Org Manager Calculate field measurements related to the survey data collected Manage the time and schedules of the survey crew effectively Maintain on‑time and consistent attendance Minimum Requirements Five (5) years of verifiable experience in running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver’s license Ability to read and comprehend measurements Intermediate math skills, including trigonometry and coordinate geometry Effective communication skills Ability to travel and stay overnight as required by the Survey Department workload Physical Requirements Work outdoors up to 100% of the time Lift a minimum of 50 lbs Remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances Be able to bend, stoop, and climb on a ladder Drive a company vehicle to and from job sites Thompson Engineering and Watermark Design Group are equal‑opportunity employers.
