This role involves performing high-quality MIG and TIG welding, along with grinding and finishing work, on a variety of materials and parts in a contract manufacturing job shop. You will work with both manual and robotic welding equipment in a larger manufacturing environment, supporting a changing mix of projects from week to week.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on 1418 gauge material in flat and horizontal positions according to job specifications and quality standards.
• Perform TIG welding on mild and stainless steel in flat and horizontal positions, ensuring clean, structurally sound welds.
• Load and unload parts from a robotic welder safely and efficiently, following established procedures.
• Interpret and work from blueprints or weld symbols to complete welds accurately and consistently.
• Carry out grinding and finishing operations on welded parts to achieve required surface quality and appearance.
• Inspect welds for quality, identifying and correcting defects or inconsistencies as needed.
• Handle a variety of contract jobs, adapting to a changing mix of parts and projects on a week-to-week basis.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and procedures within the manufacturing environment.
• Use appropriate welding tools, fixtures, and equipment, and report any issues or maintenance needs promptly.

Essential Skills

• Proven MIG welding experience or completion of a welding degree or formal welding program.
• Ability to perform MIG welding in flat and horizontal positions on 1418 gauge material.
• Ability to perform TIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel in flat and horizontal positions.
• Capability to load and unload a robotic welder safely and correctly.
• Proficiency in grinding and finishing welded parts.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or weld symbols.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a larger manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a contract job shop or similar setting with varied weekly workloads.
• Familiarity with both MIG and TIG welding processes on thin-gauge materials.
• Comfort working with stainless steel and mild steel across different part configurations.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different jobs, fixtures, and part requirements.

Work Environment

The environment is production-oriented, with typical industrial noise and activity, and adherence to standard manufacturing safety practices and appropriate work attire is required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
