Quality Control Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting fresh blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries throughout warehouse operations to ensure compliance with company specifications, customer requirements, USDA grade standards, and food safety programs. This position plays a vital role in maintaining product quality from receiving through shipment by identifying defects, verifying packaging standards, and ensuring consistent inspection practices.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform quality inspections of incoming and outgoing berry shipments including during any packing, repacking, or reworking activities
• Verify product compliance with customer specifications, USDA grade standards, and company product specifications
• Inspect packaging materials, labels, case coding, pallet configuration, and overall presentation.
• Complete quality inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner using the company's quality systems and reporting structure
• Communicate quality and safety concerns to QC Supervisor and QC Manager
• Place product on hold when quality or food safety concerns are identified.
• Comply with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), sanitation procedures, and food safety requirements.
• Participate in inspector calibration exercises and annual quality training.
• Maintain inspection equipment and ensure measuring devices are properly calibrated.
• Perform other quality control duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in fresh produce quality assurance, agriculture, food manufacturing or warehouse operations preferred
• Understanding USDA Grade Standards and Inspection Procedures for Strawberry, Blackberry, Blueberry, and Raspberry are desirable
• Ability to recognize product defects and make objective quality assessments
• Basic computer skills
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
• Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance, and ability to work overtime, nights and weekends if needed.
• Ability to work well in a team or independently
• Bilingual English and Spanish language proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking) is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Required to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, push, pull and perform repetitive motions
• Must be able to lift 20-30lbs as needed
• Must be willing to work in a refrigerated warehouse environment of 33ºF – 40ºF
• This position is subject to supply and demand and could work as much as 7 days per week during peak season
