Job Summary

A growing litigation practice in Tampa, FL is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its general liability and professional liability defense team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2 to 8 years of litigation experience who is looking to handle complex matters, work closely with experienced attorneys, and build a long-term career in a collaborative legal environment.

The Associate Attorney will manage a caseload involving litigation strategy, pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, court appearances, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation. Key Responsibilities

- Manage all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
- Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and related proceedings.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and internal legal teams.
- Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and partners.
- Maintain case deadlines and manage multiple active matters in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
- Quarterly bonus and year-end bonus potential.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Position is located in Tampa, FL 33602.
- Role will be primarily in office.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage general liability and professional liability litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Handle depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to develop effective litigation strategies.

- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active license in good standing to practice law.
- 2 to 8 years of litigation experience, preferably in general liability and/or professional liability defense.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to case management.

Preferred Qualifications

- Medical malpractice defense experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with insurance carriers is preferred.
- Prior defense litigation experience in a law firm environment is preferred.
