Sanctions Screening & List Management Analyst

Overview

The Sanctions Screening & List Management Analyst supports the bank’s sanctions compliance program. The role manages the sanctions and watchlists used by the bank’s screening systems, keeps them accurate and current, and helps tune and test screening performance. The analyst works closely with Financial Crimes Compliance, Operations, and Technology.

Responsibilities

• Manage the intake, review, and loading of sanctions and watchlist updates, including OFAC SDN/Non-SDN, EU, UK HMT/OFSI, UN, and internal lists, into screening platforms.
• Perform QA on list updates to confirm accurate and timely implementation, and document evidence for audit purposes.
• Maintain good-guy and whitelist entries, private lists, and exclusion rules according to policy and governance standards.
• Support configuration and tuning of fuzzy-matching rules and thresholds to balance effective detection against false positives.
• Run testing on screening systems, including regression testing, list and data integrity checks, and above/below-the-line testing. Help with model validation and independent testing.
• Analyze alert volumes and screening outcomes to find trends, gaps, and opportunities for optimization.
• Partner with Technology on system upgrades, data feeds, and change requests, including UAT.
• Maintain procedures, list management logs, and control documentation.
• Support internal audit, regulatory exams, and management reporting.
• Monitor regulatory developments and new sanctions programs, and assess how they affect screening.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in sanctions compliance, screening operations, or financial crimes technology at a bank or financial institution.
• Working knowledge of OFAC regulations and global sanctions regimes.
• Hands-on experience with screening tools such as Fircosoft/FircoSoft Continuity, Actimize WL-X, LexisNexis Bridger, Dow Jones/Accuity list data, or similar.
• Understanding of fuzzy matching logic, list structures, and screening of payments (SWIFT MT/ISO 20022) and customers.
• Strong Excel skills. SQL or data analysis experience preferred.
• Detail-oriented, with strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred

• CAMS, CGSS, or similar certification.
• Experience with screening model validation, tuning, or system implementations.
