Lead AI Engineer

About The Job AlphaLife Sciences is seeking an AI Engineer Leader to drive AI innovation for new projects in clinical workflows. You will lead a small team of AI engineers, provide technical guidance, and help turn cutting‑edge AI/LLM technologies into practical solutions that accelerate processes, extract insights, and support clinical innovation. We’re looking for a hands‑on, proactive technologist who is passionate about AI, curious about new technologies, and capable of mentoring junior engineers in a fast‑paced startup environment. Responsibilities Lead a small team of AI engineers and guide their development on project tasks. Design, develop, and prototype AI/LLM solutions for real‑world clinical workflows. Collaborate closely with Product Managers and cross‑functional teams to implement innovative AI solutions. Mentor junior engineers and support skill development and productivity. Stay up to date with cutting‑edge AI/ML research and apply relevant advances to projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or a related field. 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading AI/ML initiatives, products, or teams. Strong programming skills in Python and at least one additional language such as Java or C++. Hands‑on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, model evaluation, and related AI technologies. Experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI systems in production environments. Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineers. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced startup environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities. Nice‑to‑have Experience in clinical workflows, clinical trials, or life sciences applications. Data analysis, cloud development, or distributed systems experience. Experience deploying AI solutions in production.
