This role is with a direct client of Aprio Talent Solutions. Role Title: Controller Location: Sandy Springs, GA ***To start this is 5 days on-site. Over time the client is open to a more flexible hybrid arrangement with possibly 1 day remote. The role is posted as hybrid to show that flexibility in the future but candidates must be ok starting out 5 days on-site. Typically schedule follows school staff hours of 7:30am - 4:00pm. Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Compensation: $110k - $130k (Based on level of experience) **The client is open for someone ready to step up into a Controller role or someone at an Accounting Manager level. There is a CFO who handles the higher-end strategy, budget and audit work so they need someone who can take over the transactional accounting work and grow. Summary: Our client, an established nonprofit independent school in the Atlanta metro area, is seeking a hands-on Controller to own the day-to-day accounting within a small business office. Reporting to the CFO, this is a newly created, fully hands-on role for someone who personally performs the close, reconciliations, and transactional work rather than overseeing a team. Stable, mission-driven nonprofit with a strong, established community. What You'll Own Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close personally. Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare, review, and post journal entries with appropriate documentation. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, tuition and fee reconciliation, cash receipts, and deposits. Coordinate and review payroll in partnership with HR and the payroll provider. Prepare financial statements, internal management reports, and variance analyses. Support audit preparation and serve as a point of contact for external auditors. Investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate coding across accounting and financial systems. Must-Haves Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5-7 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience in a non-profit setting Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle close, reconciliations, and journal entries performed personally, not solely reviewed. Solid working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting. Comfort operating in a small finance team where you handle the transactional work directly. Nonprofit, independent school, or mission-driven organization experience strongly preferred. Nice to Have Tuition or student-billing reconciliation experience. Experience building or improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Audit preparation and external auditor coordination. #J-18808-Ljbffr
