Celerity Integrated Services, a telecom/construction company based in Quakertown, PA is looking for a full-time Aerial and Underground Lineman with directional drilling experience. This role constructs, installs, maintains, and repairs aerial and underground fiber optic and telecommunications facilities. Performs pole-line and underground placement work, operates or supports horizontal directional drilling and locating activities, safely uses company vehicles and equipment, and completes assigned work in accordance with plans, customer standards, and company safety requirements.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:-Construct, install, maintain, and repair aerial and underground fiber optic and telecommunications plant in accordance with project plans, specifications, customer requirements, and company standards.-Perform aerial line work from poles, ladders, and aerial lifts, including installing or transferring strand, guys, anchors, hardware, risers, snowshoes, closures, and related support assemblies.-Place, lash, overlash, tension, sag, and secure fiber optic cable and telecommunications cable while maintaining required separation, clearance, support, and bend-radius requirements.-Inspect poles, anchors, attachment points, and work areas before starting work; use approved fall protection and rigging practices and stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.-Construct underground systems through trenching, plowing, and excavation; install conduit, innerduct, handholes, and vaults; proof or rod conduit; pull cable; and complete required restoration.-Demonstrate proven hands-on horizontal directional drilling experience and operate or support the drill and electronic locating system to complete bores and install conduit safely and accurately.-Review construction prints, bore profiles, planned depths and clearances, soil and site conditions, and entry and exit locations; maintain continuous coordination between the drill operator, locator, and crew.-Confirm active 811/One Call tickets and utility markings before excavation or drilling; pothole and positively expose facilities as required, maintain tolerance zones, and stop work for conflicts or unknowns.-Set up, inspect, and operate or assist with directional drills, locating equipment, drilling-fluid systems, vacuum excavation equipment, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, trenchers, forklifts, and trailers.-Monitor and record drill-head location, depth, pitch, steering, bore progress, and drilling-fluid returns; perform backreaming and conduit pulls and report deviations from the approved bore path.-Inspect vehicles, equipment, tools, and safety devices daily; perform routine cleaning, fueling, lubrication, and maintenance and coordinate needed repairs with the Fleet/Equipment Department.-Load, unload, secure, transport, handle, and organize fiber, conduit, strand, hardware, tools, materials, and equipment; maintain orderly vehicles, trailers, and work areas.-Set up, inspect, and maintain traffic-control devices and safe work zones in accordance with approved plans, company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.-Travel and stay overnight as required; work nights, weekends, and on-call assignments when scheduled; and perform other utility-construction duties or crew-support tasks as directed.Education and Experience:-High school diploma or equivalent.-Minimum two years of hands-on telecommunications or utility-construction experience that includes both aerial and underground fiber or communications line work.-Hands-on experience operating horizontal directional drills and electronic locating systems is required, along with knowledge of bore planning, utility avoidance, safe potholing, drilling-fluid management, and conduit installation.-Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, 811/One Call practices, traffic control, fall protection, excavation and trenching, rigging, and confined-space safety. OSHA 30 is preferred but not required.-Valid commercial driver's license (CDL-A) and a current DOT medical examination card are required.Competencies -Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely inspect, operate, and care for vehicles, tools, and construction equipment.-Demonstrated aerial-construction skills, including pole climbing, aerial-lift work, rigging, lashing, strand and hardware installation, and clearance awareness.-Demonstrated underground and HDD skills, including utility exposure, electronic locating, depth and pitch control, conduit or cable placement, and restoration.-Ability to read and follow maps, staking sheets, construction prints, bore profiles, work orders, customer specifications, and written or verbal instructions.-Strong attention to detail in measurements, material control, documentation, workmanship, and job-site quality.-Effective communication and the ability to work safely and productively both independently and as a member of a field crew.-Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance and the ability to travel, stay overnight, and work outdoors, at elevated heights, and in confined spaces.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. The position may require 8- to 10+hour workdays, flexible start and end times, travel and overnight stays, and scheduled night, weekend, or on-call work based on project needs.Physical and Other Requirements:The employee must regularly climb poles and ladders; enter and exit aerial lifts, vehicles, trenches, and equipment; stand and walk on uneven ground; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, push, pull, carry, install, and remove tools and materials weighing up to 95 pounds. The employee must be physically able to safely use hand and power tools and operate telecommunications and construction equipment, including aerial lifts, directional drills, locating systems, vacuum excavators, excavators, skid steers, trenchers, and company vehicles.
