Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a Med/Surg setting. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to care for a diverse range of patients while adapting to the unique challenges of a rural healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with various diagnoses, including congestive heart failure (CHF), hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, interpreting telemetry strips and escalating concerns to physicians as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with a healthcare team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Titrate medications, including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives, as per established protocols.
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing education to maintain a high standard of care.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Experience in rural nursing or willingness to adapt to a lower resource environment.
• Strong ability to manage a manageable nurse-to-patient ratio effectively, typically 1:4.
• Ability to work with patients in various medical situations and provide empathetic care.
• Experience in reading telemetry strips independently.

Work Schedule

• Self-scheduling options available with block scheduling encouraged.
• Weekend and holiday shifts are required; a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule is expected.
• Floating between departments may be required based on nursing needs.

Additional Information

• Scrub color is navy blue; scrubs are not provided.
• Orientation and training will be conducted during the first week of employment.
• Registered Nurses will have the support of Nurse Aids on the unit, with 1 aid assigned when patient volume reaches 9.
