Fund Accountant

1-3 years’ experience working in public accounting in the financial sector or previous experience in a family office preferred. CPA preferred, but not required. Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required. Ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced environment. Strong financial analytical skills and understanding of basic financial concepts. Desire to learn and grow professionally in the personal financial management business. Ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Strong proficiency in Excel; experience working with any of these tools is beneficial: Addepar, Arch, AI platforms such as Claude. Position overview The Fund Accountant will support the accounting and operations of Legacy Knight’s investment funds and special purpose vehicles, reporting to the Finance Manager and CFO. This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership and the full investment lifecycle. In this role, you will: Serve as the day-to-day point of contact with fund administrators on capital calls, distributions, and investor statements. Review partner capital allocations, NAV calculations, and fee computations prepared by administrators. Support treasury and cash management across the fund platform, including capital call timing and liquidity planning. Support the formation and launch of new investment vehicles and manage investor subscription and onboarding workflows. Serve as a direct point of contact for investors, responding to questions on capital activity, statements, and fund reporting. Manage the annual fund audit and tax reporting cycles alongside administrators, auditors, and outside CPAs. Assist the team in streamlining and automating fund operations processes and procedures. Detailed role responsibilities Fund Accounting and Administration Serve as the primary day-to-day contact with fund administrators, coordinating capital calls, distributions, and quarterly capital account statements across a portfolio of funds and SPVs spanning private equity, private credit, venture capital, real assets, and direct co-investments. Review partner capital allocations, NAV calculations, management fee and carried interest computations prepared by administrators, investigating discrepancies before they reach investors. Support treasury and cash management across the fund platform, including forecasting capital call and distribution timing, monitoring fund-level cash and liquidity needs, and coordinating transfers so capital commitments are met on schedule. Maintain fund-level records supporting investor capital activity across the fund lifecycle, from initial close through final liquidation. Entity Formation and Investor Operations Assist with the setup of new investment entities (LLCs, LPs, SPVs), ensuring all legal, operational, and banking steps are completed to support investment execution. Manage subscription document workflows and investor onboarding, coordinating across counsel, administrators, and clients to complete the process accurately and on schedule. Work directly with high net worth clients to ensure capital calls are funded within required timeframes and distributions are received into the correct accounts, with the highest standards of customer service, communication, and responsiveness. Serve as a direct point of contact for investor inquiries, responding to questions on capital account balances, capital activity, statements, and fund reporting with clarity and discretion, and escalating to the investment or compliance teams where appropriate. Audit, Tax, and Compliance Manage the annual fund audit cycle alongside administrators and external auditors, preparing supporting schedules and responding to requests through issuance of financial statements. Support the external tax team by providing data for investor K-1s and communicating timelines proactively with investors.
