Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Valid state license required Certifications: - ACLS - BCLS - NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with the titration of vasopressors and sedation medications - Experience with arterial lines and chest tubes - Experience caring for ventilated patients Description: This position is in a step-down unit that provides high-acuity care. The nurse will be responsible for managing patients transitioning from intensive care. Staffing ratios are 1 nurse for every 4 patients. Weekend requirements include 2 shifts every other weekend. Nurses will float to lower acuity floors as needed. The unit has an interdisciplinary support team, including respiratory services and pharmacy. Daily census averages around 25 patients. Special equipment used includes Bipap and arterial lines. Candidates must be proficient in advanced cardiac care and have strong clinical skills. The role includes providing care for patients with conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias and respiratory failure. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
