The hours for this position will vary from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday. The campus closes on Friday at 6:00 pm and on Saturdays, 3:00 pm. Salary: $11.75/hr Classification Title: Student Intern--Public Safety Aide Job Code: 4098 (FT), 4598 (PT) FLSA: Non‑Exempt Position Pay Grade: B/C 01 Position Type: Part‑Time Summary Statement: An aide would be responsible for assisting the College’s Public Safety Office as directed by on‑duty constables, managers or Public Safety Chief. Nature and Scope: An incumbent typically reports to the Public Safety Office supervisor and performs Public Safety duties as directed. A significant aspect of this work involves assisting staff, students and faculty on a regular basis. The work may involve routine tasks such as making students ID’s, signing in visitors, and unlocking classroom doors as necessary or directed. Completion of additional routine tasks may be required and ordered by the on‑duty supervisor. Principal contacts will be with officers, supervisors, staff, students and campus visitors. Principal Accountabilities Maintain a safe campus through foot patrol, bicycle and/or motor vehicle to ensure compliance with all public safety policies. Communicate any concerns or issues to the appropriate officer or supervisor. Enforce the College’s ID policy while assigned to the lobby/front desk. Provide information to callers regarding campus procedures, operations and contact locations. Lend assistance to any staff, students or visitor as required. Perform other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Ability to deal effectively with people. - Ability to remain alert and act calmly in all situations. - Ability to understand oral and written instructions. - Ability to communicate effectively. - Knowledge of safe operations of motor vehicles and/or bicycle. - CPR /First Aid trained (must be completed within the first six months of hire).
